Paraguayan Adolfo Daniel Vallejo has sparked controversy by claiming a female umpire was unable to control the crowd during his five-set loss to French teen Moïse Kouamé.

Vallejo stated that "this sort of match needs a man" after the marathon contest at Court Suzanne Lenglen. The 17-year-old Kouamé eventually prevailed 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (8) after over four hours.
