Monaco Hosts Historic La Vuelta Start

Tomorrow marks a historic moment as Monaco becomes the first city to host the opening stage of each of cycling's three Grand Tours when La Vuelta begins with an individual time trial.

Following the 1966 Giro and 2009 Tour, Monaco will now host La Vuelta's opening stage, completing the rare feat of hosting all three Grand Tours' inaugural events. The 81st edition features an extremely mountainous profile that has attracted five-time Tour winner Tadej Pogacar.

Pogacar returns to La Vuelta after his impressive 2019 debut where he finished third, beginning to showcase the class that would later dominate the Tour de France. afrikasportnews.co.za
