Mets Place Mauricio on IL, Call Up Brujan

The New York Mets placed infielder Ronny Mauricio on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb fracture and called up infielder Vidal Brujan from Triple-A Syracuse.

Mauricio was injured in Saturday's game against the Angels when he dived into first base. Manager Carlos Mendoza expects Mauricio to miss 6-8 weeks. Mauricio was batting .219 in 10 games with one home run this season.

Brujan, 28, makes his Mets debut after being acquired from the Twins in January. He is a .199 career hitter with five home runs and 48 RBIs in 261 games. The Mets designated Eric Wagaman for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. newsbetting.club
