Belgium 'Astonished' By Balogun Ruling

The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) released a statement criticizing FIFA's ruling to suspend Folarin Balogun's one-match red card suspension ahead of the USA-Belgium round of 16 match. The RBFA argues that FIFA's decision contradicts Article 66.4 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, which clearly states that a red card automatically results in a one-match suspension, "as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup."

The Belgian governing body also accused FIFA of contradicting Article 10.5 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulation, which mandates automatic suspensions for red cards.
