During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Davis expanded on why he thinks he fits into that construction process. Davis had two previous stints with the team and spent the last eight seasons with the Saints, which gives him the kind of experience that he believes the Jets were looking for as they try to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
"When I look at what [Jets owner Woody Johnson] and Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn are establishing, why they're bringing me in is to model what they want that culture to look like," Davis said. "And when I say leadership, it's not a title. It's modeling. What does your lifestyle represent? Because more is caught than taught. So it's not people are looking for me to come in and have all the right words. How can I be the example of what winning culture looks like? It's the way that I attack the weight room, it's the way that I study film, it's the way that I take care of my body."
Davis said the additions of players like quarterback Geno Smith, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and defensive tackle David Onyemata have a similar aim as the Jets try to set a foundation for younger players to create sustained success.
New twist in affordability checks row demands answers from Gambling Commission
Culture, media and sport committee questions bear a striking similarity to those racing industry has been asking
Last Tuesday’s announcement by the Gambling Commission that it planned to introduce “financial risk assessments” – or affordability checks – for gambling customers seemed to mark the end of racing’s fierce, five-and-a-half-year campaign against the policy, but there has been a further twist to the extended tale after it emerged that the House of Commons’ culture, media and sport committee (CMSC) has written to the commission, requesting answers to a series of questions on the checks by 24 July.
The cross-party committee’s questions for the regulator bear a striking similarity to many of those that the racing industry has been asking – to little or no avail – since checks were first proposed under the last Conservative government in late 2020.
